Heritage & Character Inns offers accommodation in some of the most beautiful places in New Zealand and our members are committed to Responsible Tourism and keeping our environment as pristine as possible. That’s why we are going green with Qualmark.

As New Zealand’s official mark of quality for tourism, all businesses that have a Qualmark licence are assessed on their environmental performance. This is part of the New Zealand Tourism’s commitment to looking after New Zealand for the enjoyment of future generations.

Minimum requirements include establishing basic environmental
practices and completing an environmental review of the business.
Those businesses that are performing at the top levels will be engaging
in activities that include:
                               •     Energy    efficiency
                               •     Conservation    initiatives
                               •     Waste    management
                               •     Community    activities
                               •     Water    conservation

For you, recognising top performing Qualmark Green businesses is easy - they list Enviro logos. Look for the following logos on websites, online listings and in other promotional material such as brochures. Where applicable these logos are shown next to the Qualmark star grading or Endorsed logos.

            

Over the next 12 months all Heritage & Character Inns members will be assessed for their commitment to environmental & social issues. So keep a look out for a growing list of our bed and breakfast and hotel members with Enviromark  Green endorsement.
