At Maple Lodge, we have blended the best sustainable practices of insulation, double gazing, heating etc from our European background with Kiwi features such as the striking local schist stonework. The result is a beautiful, modern building that transforms into a comfortable, welcoming boutique accommodation lodge that sits seamlessly within the natural landscape. We feel our efforts have been well rewarded with our independently assessed Qualmark Boutique and Lodge 5 Star rating and our commitment to sustainable practice is recognized with the Qualmark Green – Silver rating. We also have the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for 2013 & 2014.

On the lake one of our favourite trips is to Mou Wahou Island – the lake on an island on a lake on an island in the middle of the ocean (recently seen on the TV show 72hours). Take the trip – and see it for yourself. A jetboat ride along the Matukituki river will bring you into Hobbit and Lord of the Rings scenery and the included bush walk will give you a taste of this region’s outstanding natural landscape. Otherwise there are fishing trips, kayaking or for the more adventurous parascending.
With Wanaka airport close by there are opportunities for a flying lesson, skydiving, a classic flight in a tiger moth or take a flight-seeing trip to Mt Cook, Milford Sound or the Lake Wanaka area. And don’t forget, Maple Lodge has plenty of space for a helicopter to land if you fancy a charter flight to wherever your imagination takes you.
