Clearview Lodge is conveniently located, just off SH1, only 10 minutes from Christchurch International Airport and 20 minutes from the city centre.  Our three large ensuite rooms look out over our extensive gardens and vineyard, with rural views to the Southern Alps. Guests often comment on how comfortable our beds are and how spacious our rooms are. We enjoy sharing our property and it’s produce with our guests. We have been producing Pinot Noir, Pinot Port and Pinot Rose’ since 2004. Guests usually enjoy a convivial time over a glass or two of Pinot and try our award winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil served with fresh bread and home-made dukkah in the evening after a day exploring the new and exciting city of Christchurch and surrounding area. Clearview Lodge is a great place to be based for day trips to Akaroa (90 minutes), Mt Hutt Ski Field (90 minutes), Hanmer Springs (90 Minutes) and the Waipara wine region (40 minutes). We love our golf, so it’s great to be members and have Clearwater Golf Club on our doorstep. We can book tee times and may be able to play with guests at special member guest rates, if available.

Cancellation Policy.

30 days – 8 days prior to arrival 30% of the total booking will be charged.
from 7 days up until arrival, or no show, will be charged the full amount of the booking.

If we are able to book the rooms with another guest, we will not charge the cancellation fee. We are a small B&B and cancellations significantly affect us. We recommend travel insurance.

Late payments greatly affect us. We politely request your co-operation in meeting our payment terms.

Remember we are ALWAYS happy to assist with any enquiries regarding services available in Christchurch. We can always book restaurants for guest as well as tours and activities. Some things do need to be booked, at least the day before.

Guest Arrival Times:

Check-in is from 3pm.

We appreciate you sending us arrival details, whether flight details or where the guests are driving from.

Christchurch International Airport has arrivals from 5am in the morning, with 10.30am from Singapore, others through the day and many flights through Australia arrive between 11.30pm and 1.30am. We always like to greet our guests at whatever time of day, or night, that they arrive. As we have work to do in the vines and around the property, and Robin works in his home office as the New Zealand Economist for UBS, we make a great effort to arrange our time so at least one of us is always available to greet guests. This is why we always ask for guest arrival information, although we appreciate this is not always available.

Check-out is 11am.

If guests would like to check in (or out) earlier (or later), this is by arrangement only. The guest lounge is available for guests to use while they wait for their room to be serviced or if they want to relax before their flight later in the day. If guests want their room to be available so they can sleep (if they have flown in from overseas and arrive early), they may need to book the room an extra night to guarantee it is available.

 

Rates include

full breakfast with seasonal produce, jams and preserves, honey from our bees and eggs from our hens. If guests are on the early train, or flight, Sue will make Muffins (by prior arrangement) and pack them with fruit and drinks. We offer free Wifi, fruit platter with chocolates, tea, coffee and home baking. Drinks are served in the evening, often with fresh bread, Dukkah and our award winning extra virgin olive oil, usually between 6pm and 9pm depending on guests dinner plans. If guests don’t want to drink and drive, then we have drinks when they get back from dinner or have drinks at 6 pm and we may drop them at a restaurant and then they can get a cab back. Most wines are various vintages of our Clements Estate own Pinot wines and we have a selection of good South Island White wines and beers and soft drinks. If guests have time, Sue is happy to take them on a tour of the garden, vineyard and property and explain what we do and taste any fruits or nuts in season. Guests can use the salt water heated (in summer) swimming pool and the spa is hot year-round.

 

Dining Options.

We don’t provide dinner but will make bookings and can recommend a wide variety of local restaurants. The Lakes restaurant and the Sprig bar (casual dining) at Clearwater Resort are 5-10 minutes walk. It is 10 minutes drive to Merivale and there are many many other restaurants closer, as well as all the new and old options in the city.

Child Policy:

We sometimes accept children and decide on a case by case basis. We can have a maximum of 6 guests so we cannot have extra children in rooms. If you are booking multiple rooms for multiple nights, we are more likely to accept a booking which includes children. We have plenty of space for children but try to ensure that, if we do accept a booking with children, they won’t disturb other guests.

 

Guest Parking.

We have plenty of space for parking including for camper vans as some guests stay with us for a last night before they drop off their camper van. For winter guests, Sue will clear ice from windscreens to ensure you travel safely.
