Tairoa Lodge & Cottage

Capture the essence of yesteryear when you stay at Tairoa Lodge. Tairoa Cottage, with its atmosphere of understated classical elegance, provides self-contained accommodation, peace & tranquility, just a stroll through the garden. Sleeps 5.

Tairoa Cottage

Capture the essence of yesteryear when you stay at Tairoa Cottage. This old house was removed from its original site in the middle of Hawera in 2002, to its present site in the extensive grounds of Tairoa Lodge and faithfully renovated to provide boutique self-contained accommodation.
Tairoa Cottage is very quiet and private set amongst established grounds and with an extensive lawn sweeping to the front of the house. A wrap-around verandah facing North and East provides shelter for alfresco dining. The original matai floors and rimu doors provide warmth to the interior. 'Understated classical elegance' describes the all-new furnishings and interior design.

Isaac Bayly Suite

The upstairs master bedroom named after Isaac Bayly who built this house in 1875 is opulently decorated in a deep rich claret red. French pleated drapes and tiebacks have been chosen to complement the colour and the duvet and pillows specially made to match. The old brass bedstead stands proud in this room with the queen bed fitted with quality linen and electric blanket. A single bed with a cream marcella bedspread makes this room ideal for guests travelling as a twin. The light fittings are white rose painted china and brass and match the decor beautifully. An antique washstand with basin and pitcher stand in one corner along with a wooden chest, chairs and coffee table next to the fireplace.

Wonderful views of the woodland garden, swimming pool and petanque piste are found from the private balcony off this bedroom. Enjoy your breakfast here during summer or pass the afternoon away sipping a glass of wine and enjoying the summer evenings.

The private en suite has a white and rose tiled shower, and old fashioned pedestal washbasin and brass towel and toilet fittings. Mauve coloured towels and bathrobes complete this room.

The Blyth Suite

This guest bedroom named after the family who owned the property for most of last century, is situated facing north and captures both the morning and afternoon sun. Elegantly decorated in corn yellow with striking navy accessories, this room oozes warmth and comfort. The quality queen bed has an electric blanket and fitted navy linen and a Private Collection navy jacquard duvet. The striped navy drapes are made from the contrasting fabric of the duvet, along with extra pillows and cushions. Brass and rimu wooden light fittings and an antique table lamp for reading at night adorn this room. A wonderful antique kauri and rimu dressing table stands proud in one corner with a writing desk, chair, coffee table, valet and fireplace.

The private en suite has a white and blue/yellow tiled shower, and old fashioned pedestal washbasin and brass towel and toilet fittings. Navy Sheridan towels and navy bathrobes complete this room.
