Feeling confident about your NZ holiday accommodation choices can be difficult, as there are no agreed upon definitions for accommodation styles or levels in New Zealand. A "Luxury Lodge" may be an exclusive retreat with an international chef and white glove service, or the two extra rooms in someone's home. If the owners offer you dinner, it can be called a lodge.
Property descriptions in many New Zealand accommodation guides are written by their owners and may not be objective. One accommodation owner's definition of "Luxury Lodge" may be quite different from international concepts of “luxury”.
